Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms present in blood that can cause disease in humans. These pathogens include, but are not limited to, hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes AIDS. Workers exposed to bloodborne pathogens are at risk for serious or life-threatening illnesses. OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030, prescribes regulations to protect workers who are occupationally exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) . This training will provide you with the knowledge and tools to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards found on General Industries sites.In this course you will learn about imminent danger situation, workers fatalities, reporting requirements for hospitalization, amputations, or losses of an eye, worker complaints, referrals, targeted inspections, inspections priorities, phone/fax investigations, on-site inspections including preparation, opening conference, walkaround, closing conference, workers’ rights, results, and appeals process.
